Is HR Keeping Pace with the Latest AI Tools

Posted by admin on March 27, 2023

Kate Choyce, Managing Director and Founder of HR Tech & HKHR Recruitment based in Hong Kong, believes, "ChatGPT is an ally rather than a foe. It is imperative for HR leaders to realize the significance of employing such tools to elevate employee productivity, optimize efficiency, and empower them to concentrate on more critical tasks that require human insight and sensitivity."

According to a recent survey conducted by Monster, almost half of the workers surveyed have used ChatGPT or other AI generators for work. While half of them used it for basic tasks like writing emails or scheduling, 33% have used it for advanced or specialty tasks like writing code, financial forecasting or data analysis, and another 30% have used it for creative purposes like generating graphics, plans or campaigns. However, they are still unsure about the extent to which they should be using AI at work.

Although 29% of workers think their manager would praise them for their use of AI technology, about one-quarter worry they would be looked down upon for taking a shortcut, 20% predict they could have their work replaced by AI, and 17% worry they would get fired. Additionally, while many workers have used AI at work, 68% still believe they can perform core tasks of their job better than an AI generator, and nearly 40% are concerned that an AI generator could replace their role or eliminate their position entirely.

Aside from using AI at work, more than one-third of workers have also used ChatGPT or an AI solution to help with job hunting, such as writing resumes and cover letters

As the Managing Director of HKHR Recruitment, an agency that takes pride in providing innovative solutions such as the #SmartCV to our clients, I believe the recent Monster survey emphasises the significance of AI tools like ChatGPT. It is crucial for HR leaders to recognise the value of these tools in improving staff productivity, optimising efficiency, and facilitating focus on tasks that necessitate human intuition and empathy. Embracing AI in the workplace can prove advantageous to both employees and organisations. By cultivating a culture of cooperation between humans and AI, we can fully capitalise on the potential of both parties and realise organisational success

According to an article in Forbes, "ChatGPT is one of the most advanced conversational AI models in the market and has a variety of use cases, including in the HR industry. With its natural language processing capabilities, ChatGPT can be used to automate initial interviews and candidate screening, freeing up HR professionals to focus on higher-value tasks."

While some may fear that AI tools like ChatGPT will replace human recruiters, I believe that they can be used in conjunction with traditional recruitment methods to improve efficiency and accuracy. By automating mundane tasks, ChatGPT allows HR professionals to focus on building meaningful relationships with candidates and making better hiring decisions.

As Kate Choyce, Managing Director and Founder of HR Tech & HKHR Recruitment based in Hong Kong, states, "ChatGPT is an ally rather than a foe. It is imperative for HR leaders to realize the significance of employing such tools to elevate employee productivity, optimize efficiency, and empower them to concentrate on more critical tasks that require human insight and sensitivity."

So – where to start right now ? and how can ChatGPT help in house Talent Acquisition teams?

Here are three HR tasks that ChatGPT can do right now in 2022:

  • automates candidate screening
  • Scheduling interviews
  • Job descriptions creation

And as AI technology continues to evolve, ChatGPT is predicted to be able to assist in the following areas within the next 5 years:

  • AI-Driven Performance Management
  • Legal Compliance Assurance
  • Personalised Employee Training

In conclusion, AI-powered tools like ChatGPT can provide valuable support to HR teams and enhance recruitment efforts. By embracing new technologies and combining them with human expertise, HR professionals can improve their overall recruitment process and make better hiring decisions. As the Forbes article points out, "The future of recruitment is likely to be a combination of human expertise and technological innovation, and ChatGPT is just one example of how AI can support HR professionals in their roles."
